We offer a little something for everyone! We are proud to offer programs for kids and adults, and also to connect you to our esteemed partners for even more offerings.
Programs for Kids
Looking for ways to get your littles more active and engaged? Look no further than the great programs offered by the SSCA and our partners. We are thrilled to offer dance, tennis and swimming lessons through the community association, and other fantastic team-based programs through our local partners.

Boot, scoot and boogie into Calgary’s culture! Line dancing is a popular western style type of group dance performed in lines with a sequence of steps. In Calgary, it’s important to know how to line dance when the Calgary Stampede rolls into town, and it is a great way to get moving and meet like-minded people. SSCA offers two levels: beginner and beginner plus, and both classes run for 12 weeks.

Are you an avid tennis or badminton player looking for a new challenge? Or have you never swung a racket in your life? Perfect for any level, pickleball is a paddle sport that incorporates elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis. It is played with a wiffle ball on a badminton-size court over a large tennis-style net. SSCA is proud to provide the equipment. Beginner, intermediate and expert players are welcome! Seniors Yoga Click here to register
It is easy to forget the importance of stretching in keeping the body strong. Seniors Yoga is a class designed to relax the mind and body through deep breathing, stretching and meditation. Due to its low-impact nature, yoga can help seniors retain and build their muscle capacity without the fear of injury that can accompany more fast-paced classes. Our instructor takes seniors through simple poses to improve their balance and confidence in themselves. All yoga classes are scent free zones.

A high intensity calorie buster that encompasses cardio, strength training and core development for a full body workout. Through the incorporation of weights, circuits and upbeat music, this class will leave you breathless in the best way possible!
Active older adult 55+ Click here to register
An active class for beginners with choreographed core building, followed by free weights and mat work. Designed to promote muscle awareness and improve muscle tone, and often involves rotating mat and interval workouts to keep the routine fresh every week!

Most people cringe at the thought of bootcamp, but our instructor knows how best to challenge each participant without pushing them over the edge. Bootcamp is a higher intensity circuit workout that focuses on 4-6 exercises repeated 3-5 times per class. It is a sure fire way to get the blood pumping, try new exercises and have some fun!

A blended class that incorporates posture and exercises from Yoga, Pilates and strength training. This mat-based course provides participants with all the best aspects of yoga, pilates and strength training for an exceptionally well-rounded class that challenges even the most expert Yogi and pilates guru. This low impact class improves participants’ strength, flexibility and balance. Participants are encouraged to bring their own Yoga mat.

Barre classes are the new trend when it comes to fitness. Barre above includes movements from pilates, ballet and core training. This class is designed for a wide range of fitness levels. The instructor demonstrates a variety of modifications, so expert barre dancers can break a sweat and beginners on the barre can still hit the ground running.

Kids Dance Programs
All SSCA kids dance programs are offered through Dance Foundation, a nonprofit program run by the Silver Springs Community Association. Dance Foundation offers a variety of dance programs for children ages three to seventeen. Classes run September – April with a year end recital.

Pre ballet ages 3-5 Click here to register
Pre ballet is designed for children under five who enjoy jumping, twisting and twirling. The class incorporates games to keep your little ones engaged and having fun! This class will improve their coordination, motor skills and provides an excellent place for your young ones to make friends.

Pre dance provides the foundation for ballet, jazz and tap. It is the perfect way to introduce your child to the world of dance and the variety of styles available to them. Focused on children ages 3-5, this class incorporates games to captivate their attention and will improve their coordination and dexterity.

Hip hop is a great class for kids who want to let loose, move to the grove and add their own flavour to the moves. Teaching the little ones the basics of hip hop and funk will improve their coordination and confidence in themselves.

Beginner ballet builds on the basic steps taught in pre ballet. If your child hasn’t taken pre ballet, don’t fret! Beginner ballet is designed for those who are just starting out. Learning the foundation is necessary to do well in ballet, as it improves flexibility, balance and strength.

Designed for beginners, this high energy stylized dance class incorporates dynamic steps like turns, jumps and kicks. This beginner class teaches students dance skills such as flexibility and strength to the lively jive of jazz.
Beginner Hip Hop ages 5-7 Click here to register
Beginner hip hop builds on the basics taught in pre hip hop. If your child missed out on pre hip hop, don’t stress. This class introduces dancers to the types of break-dance moves often showcased in modern music videos and always popular on the casual dance floor.
Junior Ballet ages 8-11 Click here to register
Emerging ballerinas have the opportunity to learn the beauty and grace of ballet alongside its mechanics and details. Dancers will be immersed in a class that shows the balance of practice and creativity, poise and excitement.

Emerging Hip Hop enthusiasts have the opportunity to learn more advanced hip hop moves with the coordination and precision to pop and lock isolated body parts. Dancers will learn to string together a set of moves to the latest top 40 hits.

Musical theatre is a great class for the drama kings and queens in your home. It incorporates dancing, singing, and drama to give children the opportunity to express themselves through different characters, enhancing their confidence and performance skills.
Teen musical theatre ages 12-17 Click here to register
Teen musical theatre is designed for older teens who want to advance their character development, expressing themselves through song and coordinated dance. By providing teens with characters to personify in different scenes and dance numbers, this class allows a safe environment for them to come out of their shells.
There will be no tennis lessons in 2020 due to COVID-19
Have a love for tennis or exploring a new found interest for tennis? This is the place to explore that love and learn how to be a better tennis player within walking distance of your house.
Sessions are offered Monday through Thursday reserving Friday as a rainout option. Minimum six participants are required for the classes to run with the class size offering maximum class size of eight people per session. Each participant must bring their own tennis racket.
