Rainwater Harvesting
Presented by: Mitch Rawlyk, Verge Permaculture
(Rainwater Harvesting is the collection and storage of rain water that runs off roof tops, parks, roads, and open grounds.)
Mitch Rawlyk grew up in Silver Springs, graduated Bowness High School, and successfully achieved a BSc. in Physical Geography, with a focus in Earth Systems (UVic). He attained his MSc. in Applied Meteorology at the U. of Otago, NZ, where he researched the incidence of frost events in complex terrain for vineyards in that area.
Mitch currently works at ‘Verge Permaculture’ as an Environmental Technologist. He assists in the teaching of the ‘Essential Rainwater Harvesting Course’, and is lead Instructor for the ‘Climate Section of the Permaculture Design Certificate.’ He is presently researching the effectiveness of the climate battery for their company’s passive solar greenhouse.
Mitch presently lives in Central Alberta, where he plans on building an animal-integrated regenerative orchard. Mitch loves cycling, hiking, gardening, and cooking; he is also an avid photographer.
