Active Seniors Corner Events and Activities

Thursday May 9 – 7:00-8:00 PM – “Dancing in the Dark”, hosted by SS resident Kate Butler, in the lower SSCA Common room. Come and dance to all your favourite hits from the 70’s and 80’s! Contact Kate if you are interested in attending: katyb@shaw.ca. $2.00 at the door.

Friday May 10 – 10:00 AM-12:15 PM. The last Seniors Open Rehearsal of the season at the Jack Singer Concert Hall. This event will be Brilliant Bassoon with Antoine St-Onge, bassoon, accompanied by The Calgary Phiharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Karen Kamensek. It has always been well attended, a lot of fun and very entertaining. $15.00 CASH. We will again arrange carpooling for those who are not comfortable driving and parking downtown and to save on parking costs. We will meet in the SSCA lower parking lot at 9:00 AM.

Monday May 13 – 1:00-2:00 PM in the SSCA boardroom “Nutrition and Healthy Aging”, presented by Monica Storey (SS resident) and Sheila Tyminski. No charge. Please register here.

Monday May 27 – 10:30-11:30 AM – “Stay Tuned In: Hearing Health and Wellness”- presented by Dr. Erin Davis in the SSCA Boardroom. Learn about how our hearing works, the different types of hearing loss, and what you can do to help your hearing. Have the opportunity to ask questions to a local hearing care specialist. No charge. Please register here.

Wednesday June 5 – 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM – Coach bus trip to William Watson Lodge in Kananaskis Country. Members $15 each / Non-members $20 each. Register here by May 27. We will be meeting at the SSCA on June 5 at 8:10 AM. The bus leaves from the SSCA at 8:30 AM and returns at 4:30 PM. Join us for hiking, walks, games in the lodge (if it rains).
